Questions and Answers
What is PRP?
PRP is the injection of the patients own platelets, in high concentration into an injured tendon, ligament or Muscle tear.
Why Platelets?
The Platelets contain growth factors which help stimulate natural healing. Growth factors are naturally occurring proteins primarily found in platelets and macrophages. The cascade of growth factors represent the messengers/mediators of the wound-healing scheme, so when they are deficient or trapped as in injuries they must be replaced and/or their healing activities restored. An excellent source of natural growth factors is human platelet rich plasma (PRP). PRP gel can be used to re-establish the balanced environment missing in injuries.
Why the Angel System?
The Angel System utilizes a unique technology that enables rapid isolation and activation of platelet rich plasma (PRP) from a patient’s own blood. Other systems are not capable of removing all the patient’s red blood cells. The Angel System is capable of delivering pure platelet rich plasma (PRP) from a patient’s own blood. This is why Dr. Rosen and Dr. Varev chose the Angel System over the other available PPP systems.
When was PRP introduced in the United States?
Multile growth factor solutions were introduced to the US market in the 1980's and since then the body of clinical evidence has grown.
